Gyrotonic Trainings & Workshops

At Motion Arts we offer teacher training workshops for those looking to become certified GYROTONIC or GYROKINESIS instructors, as well as “update” courses for existing instructors.

Gyrotonic Teacher Training

One of the most common questions we receive is “What does it take to become a Gyrotonic instructor?” The Gyrotonic Level 1 Teacher Training Program teaches students the progressive sequence of exercise classes on the Gyrotonic Pulley Tower Combination Unit. The 188 hour program is composed of four sequential courses (described below). Students typically begin teaching the Gyrotonic Method in the role of Apprentice within 3 months after beginning the program. It takes approximately one year to complete the full program and become a fully qualified Gyrotonic Trainer.

Q. Private Sessions

Students wanting to enroll in a Pre-Training Course are required to take at least 10 private Gyrotonic sessions¬ taught by a Licensed Gyrotonic Instructor.

Q. Pre-Training

Gyrotonic Pre-Training takes a minimum of 6 days/30 hours of instruction. This course is designed to provide a foundational understanding of the Gyrotonic Level 1 exercises and prepare the students physically for the Gyrotonic Level 1 Foundation Course.

Q. Foundation Training

The Gyrotonic Level 1 Foundation Course is an intensive 12 day/60 hour training conducted by a Gyrotonic Master Trainer. Foundation Training provides students with a more in-depth understanding of the Gyrotonic Level 1 curriculum and provide students with the specific skills and techniques needed to teach these exercises to others. Upon successful completion, students are considered a Gyrotonic Apprentice and can begin teaching the exercises they have learned.

Q. Apprenticeship

Gyrotonic Apprentice instructors have up to 12 months to complete 60 "teaching client" hours and a minimum of 30 supervised apprenticeship hours. Apprentices complete their supervised apprenticeship hours under the guidance and supervision of a Gyrotonic Master Trainer. Once Apprentices have successfully completed all of the apprenticeship requirements, they can proceed to the Gyrotonic Level 1 Final Certification Course.

Q. Final Certification

The Gyrotonic Level 1 Final Certification Course is a 3 day/17 hour training designed both as an educational course as well as a practical assessment of students' teaching skills and their understanding of the Gyrotonic Level 1 curriculum. To successfully complete this course, Apprentices must physically execute and demonstrate a proficient understanding of the exercises and principles in the Gyrotonic Level 1 Foundation Course syllabus. Upon completion of Final Certification, students are considered Certified Gyrotonic Instructors, and are granted a trademark to use the license.
